Stop Waiting and Start Taking Action

"We aren’t getting any younger. So today is the day to stop waiting. Today is your day to quit talking and start taking action toward living your dream life. The time is now.”

-Melissa Ambrosini

For so many years, I thought that my dreams and aspirations were unattainable. I thought that that’s all they were...just dreams. I thought that they were unreachable. Something I’d spend my life looking back on, and being disappointed in where everything had ended up.

When we are on our social media, we can get very down on ourselves. We see so many successful people, living out their dreams, and that green monster of jealousy gets us. We think that these people just stumbled into these lives they’re living, and now they have it made. While some of these people very well could have stumbled into their situations, I can tell you the majority of them worked their asses off to get to where they are.

That’s the thing that so many people are missing.... is the fact that you have to work, and work HARD for what you want. Life isn’t just going to sit back, and hand you the dream you’ve been dreaming.

I spent almost 6 years in a job I hated. Sitting in a cubical, not allowed to have my cell phone at my desk, not getting to wear what I want to wear, or to say what I wanted to say. OR BE WHO I AM. I would sit in that cube, day dreaming about all of the ways that I WISHED my life was different. All of the dreams I never would reach, all the places I’d never go, and all of the people I’d never meet.

A few years into my job I was given the opportunity to work at home. While I wasn’t in a cubical anymore, and I got to stay home wth my fur babies, I still wasn’t happy. It still wasn’t what I wanted to be doing with my life. I wanted to impact others. And that was not happening.

Around this time, I met a beautiful woman names Lauren, and Miss Lauren is a Beachbody coach. We stumbled across each other through instagram, and we instantly connected though our love for our Chocolate Lab’s. After a little bit of time, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and become a coach myself. I thought that I fell in love with coaching...but really I fell in love with everything it was teaching me.

Never in my life had I set goals for myself....never had I read a book about self improvement, or listened to a podcast on motivation or living your best life. Not only did I realize how important personal development is, I learned that you cant sit around and wait for things to happen. You have to go out there, and get it.

While I’m no longer a coach, I will forever be grateful to Lauren for getting me involved in something that pushed over that first domino. It may have been two years ago...but that started everything. That started the new chapter. That started a new mindset. And it gave me the tools to set my life on a trajectory to where it needs to go.

So I set bigger goals. I put the work in. HARD work in. And I am now free from the job I hated. I’m pursing my passion in the Hair and Makeup Industry. First goal of mine was to get back in a Salon. Check. Second Goal, learn a new service...Meet Natural Beaded Row Extensions. Third, and current goal...get to WWE’s Glam Squad.

Did these goals it happen overnight? NO! Did they take time, and Planning? Yeah buddy! Did I have to work my ass off?! DUH! Am I still working my ass off?! HELL Fucking YES! Did I have my fair share of mental breakdowns, and oh shit what am I doing moments? ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY!

The moral of my story...trust your gut people. I know it’s easier said than done. You might not be able to quit that job you hate at the moment. But figure out what you have to do so you can leave it behind! What do you want to do with your life? Don’t be afraid to set big scary goals. Your life can be more than you thought it had to be. It can be everything you dreamed of...if only you work for it.

So stop waiting. Stop wishing. Start working. Start taking action.
